You Asked: Flossing Doesn’t Help?

flossingRecently I heard on the CBC that there was a statement that “there has never been a study indicating that flossing is beneficial to your teeth and gums.” This statement is tricky and may be true BUT IS REALLY MISLEADING.

You see, it is very difficult to conduct a study which requires the academic scrutiny to pass accepted standards to be considered reliable and thus there has never been one!

But let me reassure you that , in my 30 odd years of practicing dentistry, seeing about 3000 patients at check-ups per year , close to 100,000 check-ups – the flossers have the best gums, least amount of bad breath and bleeding, and the least cavity activity.

Now that may not be an official study but that is a huge observation which in my eyes is irrefutable!
