CDCP Dentist in Oshawa — We Accept the Canadian Dental Care Plan

Yes — Simcoe Smile Dental accepts the Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP) at our Oshawa office at 936 Simcoe Street North. We bill Sun Life directly, so eligible patients pay only their co-payment (if any) and any difference between CDCP fees and our standard fees. Call (289) 312-1482 for a free CDCP benefits check before your visit.

What the CDCP covers at our office

The CDCP helps pay for a wide range of preventive and restorative dental care. At Simcoe Smile Dental, CDCP patients commonly use their coverage for:
path34 Dental exams and X-rays

path34 Teeth cleaning (scaling) and fluoride

path34 Fillings

path34 Root canal treatment

path34Extractions, including many emergency extractions

path34 Complete and partial dentures

path34 Dental emergencies

Some services, such as certain crowns, partial dentures, and major treatment require preauthorization from the CDCP before treatment begins. We handle the preauthorization paperwork for you and let you know what’s approved before any work starts. Purely cosmetic services (such as teeth whitening) are not covered by the CDCP.

Who qualifies for the CDCP in the 2026–27 benefit year

You may qualify for the CDCP if you:

path34 Are a Canadian resident for tax purposes

path34 Have an adjusted family net income under $90,000

path34 Do not have access to private dental insurance (e.g., through an employer)

path34 Filed your most recent tax return

Adjusted Family Net Income CDCP Pays Your Co-payment
Under $70,000 100% of CDCP fees 0%
$70,000–$79,999 60% of CDCP fees 40%
$80,000–$89,999 40% of CDCP fees 60%

Note: coverage percentages apply to CDCP fee amounts, which may differ from standard Ontario dental fees — see “What you’ll pay” below.

What you’ll pay: Co-payments and fee differences, explained

The CDCP pays providers according to its fee schedule, which can be lower than the standard Ontario fee guide. That means even patients with 100% coverage may have a small balance to pay if a service’s CDCP fee is below our standard fee. Before any treatment, we give you a clear estimate showing exactly what the CDCP pays and what (if anything) you’ll owe. There will be no surprises in the chair. We also offer a complimentary benefits check before your first appointment.

How CDCP billing works at Simcoe Smile Dental

1. Call us or book online:  Tell us you have CDCP coverage.
2. Complimentary benefits check: We can verify your coverage with Sun Life before your visit.
3. Bring your CDCP member card or welcome letter (and a piece of ID) to your
appointment.
4. We bill Sun Life directly: You pay only your co-payment and any fee difference,
explained in advance.

2026–27 benefit year: Renewals, gaps, and new applications

The CDCP runs on a benefit year ending June 30. The renewal window for existing members closed on June 1, 2026, and 2025–26 coverage ends June 30, 2026. If you missed the renewal deadline, you can submit a new application for the 2026–27 benefit year applications opened June 2, 2026 but there may be a gap in your coverage while it’s processed. If you’re between coverage periods and need care, call us: we’ll help you understand your options and time treatment appropriately.
